SC Tutorials - Day 1

Today i have been concentrating on studying IZ’s “A Very Step-By-Step Guide to
SuperCollider”. Its well written and easy to understand. Over the last week i have been trying to write a simple interactive compositional program within SC. I have managed to make a start without reading any tutorials, but it seems that the whole proccess slows me down. I need to balance my SC abilities with my artistic creativity in order to work in parallel.

Here is a list with the subjects covered today. Also, i am keeping track of my SC Tutorial as files for future reference.

Evaluating one line of code

Testing some sounds

Return value vs. effects of evaluating code

Documenting your code: Comments

Program statements. Evaluating blocks of code

Dealing with error messages caused by syntax mistakes

Balancing parentheses

Getting help from the system

Day 1 - Pages 1-25

Aiming on finishing the book hopefully at the end of next week. Studying the basic functionality, understanding how SC works and what lies beyond this complex system, will help me not only to acquire knowledge on SC, but it will trigger my inspiration and creativity as well. Next update tomorrow.
