MTmini Report: USB Webcam not recognised (Day 1)
I ve been working on building my second MTmini today. Everything went smoothly. I have found a cardboard box quite large and relatively good regarding to dimensions. For the moment i am using just tracing paper taped on the sides of the box. I need to buy a frame in the exact dimensions to the cardboard box. It is more stable, easily removable and more efficient to damage. When using only tracing paper taped on the box, there is the problem of pushing to hard to the surface, therefore the tape cannot hold the tracing paper stretched. I think it is obligatory to use a glass or a transparent plastic material on top of the tracing paper.
During the process of building my MTmini (GestMini V.0.2), i have faced issues on using a USB web cam. I have borrowed an average quality Trust webcam (http://www.trust.com/products/product.aspx?artnr=15354) and my Macbook Pro doesnt recognise it. I have downoloaded the Macam (http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/) and the IOExperts (http://www.ioxperts.com/products/webcamx.html) drivers, but i am still having the same problems. I have also tried the webcam to Vista and it works. So maybe there is something i didnt configure well on my Macbook Pro. Any ideas?
Another issue that might be need to be solved is how to disable the iSight camera. CCV has solved the problem by having a camera setting option to the CCV application in order to select one of all available cameras. A selection for a USB camera was not on the list, when i used the Trust. But does iSight still needs to be disabled?
Just for the ones that are interested on disabling the Built-in iSight camera on any Apple device, i have found a script that does the job. Here it is: http://techslaves.org/index.php?page=52
Overall, the construction process of my GestMini V.0.2 is going well. I urgently need any webcam to be able to test my surface.
